School history
Pangani Girls began in 1932, in the colonial era, mainly serving Nairobi’s Asian community. Before independence it was called the Duchess of Gloucester School, after Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester. After independence in 1963 it was renamed Pangani Girls and gradually opened to students of all backgrounds.
Originally a day school, it became a boarding school in 1986, and in 2011 it was raised to a national school.
Today it is a national girls’ boarding school on Juja Road in Pangani, Nairobi. Its motto is “Founded on Truth and Excellence”.
