Grade 10 placement: what to do
For parents and guardians of learners joining Grade 10 in January 2027.

Choose eight senior schools
Each Grade 9 learner chose eight senior schools: three C1, two C2, two C3 and one C4 day school near home. The selection window has closed. You can still check what was submitted and download the confirmation slip.

Check the placement
When placements are released, find out which school your child was placed in by sending their assessment number by SMS to 22263, or on the KEMIS portal.

Download the admission letter
Enter the learner’s assessment number and junior school KNEC code on the Ministry placement portal. Print two copies: the school signs one on reporting day.

Ask for a review, if you need one
If the placement does not suit your child, apply during the review window. Each learner can be revised once, and a new placement letter is final. A transfer is only possible to a school that has declared a vacancy.

Report to school
Bring the signed admission letter and the documents it lists. Government boarding fees are paid 50:30:20 across the three terms; day schools charge parents nothing.
