School history
Maranda began in 1919 as a small centre in the Bondo area where a local divinity teacher taught elderly people to read and write, and taught them Christianity. Formal elementary education started in 1926 with help from the Church Missionary Society, and between 1927 and 1928 the school became a boarding school.
Now called Maranda Senior School, it is a national boys’ boarding school about five kilometres from Bondo town in Siaya County. Its motto is “Integrity in Practice”.
